2 Tiananmen statues and a relief were confiscated by Hong Kong Government in a public space

Richard Tsoi, one of the pro-democracy activists from the Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China, is taken away by police officers at a Hong Kong shopping mall Saturday, May 29, 2010 when they displayed a 6.4-meter-tall statue depicting the Goddess of Democracy, top right, at a shopping mall without permission.

Several hours ago, the second Tiananmen statue was also confiscated by the Hong Kong Police. The excuse was again very lame and sketchy, the activists did not have an “temporary entertainment license” to display an installation outside a public space in front of Time Square (a popular mall in Hong Kong).

It is very disappointing to see how the Hong Kong Government perform. Freedom of expression is being suppressed again before the 21th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre of 1989.

Video shown the first and the second confiscation in Cantonese.
