MIT Mobile Experience Lab lectures

School of Creative Media had invited Dr. Federico Casalegno from The Media Lab, Massachusetts of Technology to give 2 lectures on "Future of Television Seminar: Rethinking the TV experience". The 2 lectures were hosted on 25 and 26 of May 2009.

I found these two lectures had touched little on the future of television. Dr. Federico Casalegno had presented design projects with interactive experiences and mostly associated and developed for mobile phones.

I found the following two projects are the most interesting; re-thinking the Paris Bus Line with an interactive bus stop, and the cloud, an interactive sculpture.

For information about the project, please visit http://mobile.mit.edu/en/smartmobility

The project can be download smartmobility_report_long.pdf.

The Cloud, a large interactive sculpture, located in downtown Firenze; created by MIT Mobile experience Lab. Consisting of 15,371 individual fibers and 65km of fiber optics, The Cloud senses human movement and tactile engagement provoking a variety of responses, including changes in light, animation and sound.

The software used to create The Cloud is open source.

Another demo video, nicely shot with a model, looks cheesy though.
